Pep Guardiola delivers the latest injury update on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland ahead of Wednesday's Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

Pep Guardiola has delivered the latest injury update on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

The Norwegian, Man City's top scorer in all competitions this season with 27 goals in 35 games, jarred his knee towards the end of City's 4-0 win over Newcastle United just over a week ago.

Haaland then returned to training a few days later, but Guardiola revealed that the striker had "discomfort walking" and he has since missed the Citizens' last two matches.

After watching on as an unused substitute as Man City suffered a 3-1 second-leg defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League playoffs, Haaland was left out of Guardiola's squad entirely for Sunday's 2-0 home defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola stated after the match that Haaland was not fully fit to feature, but "all the examinations" suggest that he has not sustained a "dangerous" injury and the Catalan was hopeful that his No.9 could return soon.

Guardiola provides latest injury update on Haaland

Man City's manager has now provided a fresh update on Haaland's condition, confirming that a final decision on his availability for Wednesday's match will be made on Tuesday night.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Guardiola said: "Tonight, we will know [if he can play] after training. I hope so, but I don't know yet.

"He feels better, but in the last two games he could not play. We will see tomorrow."

Haaland was unable to score for Man City in their heavy 4-0 home defeat to Tottenham earlier this season, but he had previously found the net three times in four Premier League games against Spurs, including a brace in a 2-0 away win in May last season.

Four players who remain sidelined for Man City are Rodri (ACL), Manuel Akanji (Abductor), John Stones (thigh) and Oscar Bobb (ankle/fitness).

Guardiola impressed with impact of four new signings

However, four players who will be available for selection are January signings Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, the latter three have started in each of City's last three games.

Commenting on the impact of City's new quartet since their arrival, Guardiola said: "Really good, for the time of training they've had.

"Khusanov played against Chelsea, [Leyton] Orient, Newcastle, [Real] Madrid, Liverpool - tough and difficult schedules coming from where he came from, lack of communication in terms of not speaking fluent English. His impact has been really good.

"Omar as well, Nico has played less, but they've been really good. We're satisfied with the impact. And of course Vitor, when he has minutes will be at a good level."

Man City's new recruits will be hoping to help Guardiola and co rectify their poor run of form away from home, as they travel to Spurs having won just three of their last 15 games on the road across all competitions (D2 L10).
