Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will be bidding to win his 100th Champions League game on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will be looking to win his 100th Champions League game on Wednesday evening when Los Blancos welcome RB Leipzig to Bernabeu.

The Italian is currently on 99 victories in the competition, and a win this week would move him onto a century and see him become just the second manager after Sir Alex Ferguson (102) in the history of the European Cup to reach 100 successes.

Real Madrid's European Cup triumph last season saw Ancelotti become the most successful coach in the history of the competition, having now lifted the trophy on four occasions, two of which have come with Los Blancos.

The 63-year-old has managed the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Napoli during a hugely successful career.

Ancelotti will now be looking to oversee a challenge for a 15th European Cup for Real Madrid, who opened their 2022-23 campaign with a 3-0 success over Celtic last week.

The Italian recently revealed that he would retire from football management once his second spell in charge of Los Blancos had come to an end, with his current deal due to expire in June 2024.

"This stage at Real will end my career. After Los Blancos, I'll stop," he told Il Messagero. "Real is the top of football. It makes sense to put an end to it after this experience."

However, the Spanish champions are believed to be keen to open talks with him over a new deal, and earlier this year, Ancelotti said that he would be prepared to stay as head coach "for another 10 years".

"After this period at Real Madrid it is likely that I will retire. But if Real Madrid want me to be here for another 10 years, I'll be here for another 10 years," he told Amazon Prime Video.

"I would like to be with my grandchildren, to be on holiday with my wife. There are so many things to do that I've had to put aside. There's a lot of places I've never been to.

"I've never been to Australia. I've never been to Rio de Janeiro. I want to go visit my sister more often. Unfortunately you can't do everything, so the day I retire, I'll have all these things to do."

In his first spell as Real Madrid boss between 2013 and 2015, Ancelotti won the Copa del Rey, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

The experienced manager then returned to Bernabeu last year after a spell at Everton, and he enjoyed a hugely successful 2021-22 campaign, helping the club win La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup.

Real Madrid have already won the UEFA Super Cup this season and have been victorious in each of their seven fixtures in all competitions, including five successes in La Liga, which has left them top of the table.
