Manchester United are allegedly interested in signing experienced goalkeeper Juan Musso, who is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid from Atalanta BC.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing experienced goalkeeper Juan Musso this summer.

Musso, 30, joined Atletico Madrid on loan from Atalanta BC last summer, but he has only featured on six occasions for Diego Simeone's side this season, with Jan Oblak the undisputed number one at Wanda Metropolitano.

The two-time Argentina international has played just once in La Liga this term, keeping a clean sheet against Athletic Bilbao at the end of August, but he has played every minute of Atletico's 2024-25 Copa del Rey campaign to date.

Musso has been impressive in his limited appearances, conceding just once in his six outings for Atletico, and he is set to continue between the sticks in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey against Barcelona.

However, it is thought to be unlikely that he will stay with Atletico beyond the end of the campaign, and according to Fichajes, Man United are keen to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.

The report claims that the Red Devils 'could present an offer in the coming weeks', with the club viewing him as a potential replacement for Andre Onana, who continues to struggle at Old Trafford.

Man United 'interested in on-loan Atletico goalkeeper Musso'

Onana arrived at Man United from Inter Milan in July 2023, penning a five-year deal with the Red Devils, but he has found it difficult to play his best football for the 20-time English champions.

The Cameroonian has made a host of high-profile errors during his time at Old Trafford, and it is thought that head coach Ruben Amorim is keen to sign a more reliable goalkeeper this summer.

Onana would not be short of interest if he became available for transfer, and it is thought that a return to Serie A could be possible.

Man United also have a decision to make when it comes to number three goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who is out of contract at the end of June, while there have been claims that second-choice stopper Altay Bayindir wants to be a number one at this stage of his career.

How much would Musso cost?

Valued at just €4m (£3.3m) by transfermarkt, Man United would not have to break the bank to bring in Musso, but it remains to be seen how prepared Atalanta are to let him leave on a permanent basis.

The Argentine played 104 times for Udinese before his arrival at Atalanta in 2021, and he has represented his parent club on 99 occasions, including six appearances in the Champions League.

Musso's contract with Atalanta is due to expire in June 2026, while it is believed that Atletico do have an option to sign him on a permanent basis this summer, further complicating a potential deal.

However, with regular action at Atletico blocked by Oblak, Musso could potentially push for a move to Old Trafford, where his arrival may open the door for Onana to leave after a difficult period in Manchester.
