Manchester United and Chelsea still hope to sign Eintracht Frankfurt's Daichi Kamada ahead of Borussia Dortmund, according to a report.

Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly still firmly in the race for Eintracht Frankfurt's Daichi Kamada despite claims that Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal with the attacker.

The 26-year-old's contract with Frankfurt is due to expire at the end of June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent months.

Man United are thought to have contacted the Eagles in January to discuss the possibility of signing Kamada, but the attacker ultimately remained with his German club.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Dortmund in recent weeks, with various reports claiming that BVB have already come to an agreement with the Japan international over a move this summer.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Man United and Chelsea remain hopeful of convincing Kamada to reject Dortmund in order to make the move to the Premier League.

The attacker has been in impressive form for Frankfurt during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 13 goals and registering five assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

In the Bundesliga, Kamada has seven goals and five assists in 21 appearances, while he has netted three times in seven outings in the Champions League.

Frankfurt are still chasing success in the European competition, although they trail 2-0 to Napoli after the first leg of their last-16 contest, with the second leg set to take place on March 15.

Die Adler are also in a strong position in the Bundesliga table, sitting sixth on 39 points, just three points behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig and only five from Union Berlin in third.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag is believed to be a huge admirer of Kamada, with the Dutchman determined to bring the Japan international to Old Trafford this summer.

The former Sagan Tosu youngster is capable of operating in a number of different positions, featuring as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder and left-sided attacker this term.

Frankfurt have allegedly not given up hope of convincing Kamada to sign a new contract, but it is said to be almost certain that he will be leaving this summer in search of pastures new.

Man United's main Premier League competition is said to come from Chelsea, with the Blues also identifying Kamada as the ideal player to boost their squad for the 2023-24 campaign.

The attacker arrived at Frankfurt from Sagan Tosu in 2017, and he has represented the German side on 164 occasions in all competitions, contributing 37 goals and 31 assists in the process.
