Matheus Cunha has thanked Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters after the "best season" of his life ahead of his anticipated transfer to Manchester United.
The 26-year-old was voted as the club's Players' Player of the Season after scoring a team-high 17 goals and providing six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Cunha scored 15 goals in the Premier League, becoming only the third Brazilian in the division's history after Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Martinelli to reach that landmark in a single season.
On February 1, the versatile forward extended his contract at Wolves until June 2029, but he is now expected to leave the club this summer after two-and-a-half years at Molineux.
It is understood that the £62.5m release clause that was recently inserted into his new deal will be activated by Man United, who have reached a full verbal agreement to sign the former Atletico Madrid man.
Cunha is said to have given the green light to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford until 2030, with an option until the summer of 2031, and he is soon expected to undergo a medical before being unveiled as Man United's first summer signing.
Cunha: "All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves"
Cunha has taken to social media to reflect on an "incredible season" at Wolves, thanking all those who have supported him with what appears to be a goodbye message.
A statement posted on Instagram read: "Wolves, what can I say to you? What an incredible season. We didn't get to where you deserve to be, but we did everything we could to make you proud. I love these guys.
"Individually, it was the best season of my life. All of this was only possible because of all the dedication and love I have for this club. I became the Brazilian with the most goals in a Premier League season, along with Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Martinelli.
"I made mistakes and got things right, but always because I lived this club so much. All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves. Another one is over. And thank you all for all the affection."
After helping Wolves avoid relegation and finish the Premier League season in 16th place, Cunha has seemingly given the go-ahead to join a Man United outfit who have failed to qualify for European competition after finishing 15th in the table, as well as losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.
Cunha was quickly identified as a leading target by Ruben Amorim's side whose summer spending power could be heavily restricted as they will already have a budget of around £100m without player sales.
A large chunk of that will be put towards signing Cunha, although it is understood that the Red Devils will pay the full £62.5m fee for the forward in three instalments over a two-year period.
