Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho insists that he is "happy" at Old Trafford amid speculation surrounding his future.

Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho has insisted that he is "happy" at Old Trafford amid suggestions that he could leave the 20-time English champions during the summer transfer window.

Garnacho was linked with a move away from Man United in January, with Napoli believed to have failed with at least one offer for the Argentina international, while Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in his services.

Any sale of the 20-year-old would count as pure profit under the Premier League's rules surrounding profit and sustainability, and it is understood that the Red Devils are prepared to listen to offers for him this summer.

However, Garnacho has said that he is "happy" at Old Trafford, with the forward overcoming a difficult start to life under Ruben Amorim, who arrived as head coach in October.

"As a footballer, you are always going to listen and hear some rumours about the future. But I have a contract here until 2028 so I'm happy here," Garnacho told reporters during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

"I think it's difficult for everyone when, in the middle of the season, a new manager comes in and we change the formation. But we just need to follow the rules and I try to improve every day.

"Obviously, the manager knows the characteristics of the players. You see the games, too many times I play, for example, wide on the wing and the wing back is coming inside. What we try to do depends on the players we have and we are improving as a team also.

"It's a little bit hard but it's just the mentality. My first two months, November and December were very difficult for me but my mentality is to keep working, to keep trying and show to the manager and staff I have to play."

Garnacho chasing Ronaldo goal tally

Garnacho has scored 26 times for Man United, which is just one shy of the 27 that Cristiano Ronaldo managed in his first three seasons with the club between 2003 and 2006.

When asked about the comparisons with Ronaldo, the forward said: "I'm not focused on the numbers. I think when Cristiano played here he's a different footballer and different types of games, I just try to help the team and win games.

"Obviously, missing chances, we are training really hard, me, Rasmus (Hojlund), all the strikers in the team, so I think we are improving and trying to do better."

Garnacho has scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 54 appearances for Man United this season, and he is again set to be in the XI when the Red Devils host Athletic Bilbao for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.
