Robert Lewandowski had an altercation with Barcelona teammate Ansu Fati in the aftermath of Thursday's 2-1 loss to Manchester United, according to a report.

Robert Lewandowski reportedly had an altercation with Barcelona teammate Ansu Fati in the aftermath of Thursday's 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the Europa League.

The Catalan outfit headed into the second leg of their knockout round playoff affair level at 2-2 with the 20-time English champions, and Lewandowski sent Xavi's side 3-2 ahead in the tie when he scored from the penalty spot in the first half of the clash in Manchester.

However, Fred levelled the scores early in the second period before Antony came up with the winning goal for Man United, who advanced into the last-16 stage of the competition.

According to AS, Lewandowski confronted Fati in the dressing room after the match, with the Poland international unhappy that the young Spaniard had jumped in front of him to meet a cross from Ferran Torres.

Barcelona had a golden chance to register in the latter stages of the game at Old Trafford when Torres delivered a dangerous ball into the Man United box, but Fati failed to make proper contact with his head when Lewandowski was arguably in a better position.

The report claims that with 'good manners and without acrimony', Lewandowski confronted Fati, claiming that it was the second time that he had taken a chance away from him.

Barcelona's number nine played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford, but Fati was only introduced for the final 15 minutes, with the 20-year-old struggling for form this season.

Fati has only managed six goals and three assists in 34 appearances in all competitions, and he will be absent against Almeria in La Liga on Sunday night due to a knee injury that he picked up in training.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, has scored 25 goals and registered six assists in his 30 appearances for the Catalan outfit since arriving from Bayern Munich last summer.

Barcelona boss Xavi was asked about Lewandowski, who looked frustrated at the final whistle at Old Trafford, during his press conference to preview Sunday's game with Almeria.

"I did not speak to anyone individually. I spoke to the group, we have to be proud of the way we compete. I think we were in a good position against a good team like Manchester United, but things like that can happen. We are now thinking positively about Almeria," the head coach told reporters.

"He understands that it is a medium/long-term project. He is aware of his whereabouts. We have made a change from last year to now. At the moment, we only have one title - the Super Cup -, but we want more."

Xavi also said that he was 'hopeful' of having Fati available for next week's Copa del Rey semi-final first leg with Real Madrid, with the attacker's knee problem not serious.
