Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly making progress in their attempts to appoint Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as the club's new head coach.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pressing ahead with their efforts to appoint Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as their new head coach.

When parting ways with Antonio Conte in March, Spurs opted against bringing in a permanent successor, instead turning to Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason with mixed success.

As it stands, Spurs face needing to win their final two Premier League fixtures of the season to secure European football for 2023-24.

Nevertheless, a failure to qualify for Europe would likely not be detrimental in their search to appoint a new manager in the long term.

Chairman Daniel Levy is under pressure to provide some clarity over the director of football role, something which allegedly resulted in Julian Nagelsmann becoming less tempted by Spurs' interest.

However, according to Football Insider, it appears increasingly likely that Slot will become the next incumbent in the Spurs dugout.

Last weekend, Feyenoord were confirmed as Eredivisie champions, the success coming against the odds with just one league defeat being suffered during the entire campaign.

Slot delivered on that front after guiding Feyenoord to the final of the Europa Conference League in his first campaign at De Kuip, his stock having been enhanced to a point where he is on the radar of more than just Spurs.

That said, it is claimed that the 44-year-old is now in 'pole position' to make the switch to the Premier League at the end of the season after impressing in talks with the Spurs hierarchy.

While it is stated that no deal is in place, Spurs are expected to press ahead with putting together a proposal for Slot in due course, despite a previous report claiming that an appointment would cost £6m.

Such a development is likely to be countered by Feyenoord, who wish to retain the services of the Dutchman, although success with that approach appears unlikely at this stage.

Should Slot move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he will be working outside of his homeland for the first time in his career, playing or as a manager.

Slot's only role before Feyenoord was with AZ Alkmaar, where he lost just 10 of 58 matches, and he has posted a total of 96 wins from 157 games in charge of both his former and current club.
