Formerly nothing more than a mini-tournament for a handful of continental champions, FIFA's expanded Club World Cup features 32 of the planet's most revered teams going for glory in the United States.

The world's governing body are banking on the new-look competition being a scintillating summer spectacle, but justified concerns over player burnout and reported struggles to sell tickets have overshadowed the creation of their latest brainchild.

Nevertheless, with global giants such as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus all striving for silverware in North America, many an interesting storyline could be written between June 14 and July 13.
