Liverpool have reportedly identified RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida as an alternative to Jeremie Frimpong in their hunt for a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Though the Reds have been declared Premier League champions, supporters' mood was somewhat dampened by Alexander-Arnold's announcement that he intends to leave Anfield in the summer.
Fans have speculated about potential successors to the right-back, and Bayer Leverkusen's Frimpong has been touted as a possible candidate.
However, there are concerns about whether the wing-back would be able to adapt to playing in a four-man defence given he has predominantly played in a back five in Germany.
The Daily Mail claim that Leipzig's Geertruida has emerged as a serious option, with the defender having played for Slot at Feyenoord.

During his time in Germany, Geertruida has often been used as either a right-back or as a centre-back, and he has also demonstrated an ability to operate in midfield zones.
Standing at just over six foot, the 24-year-old would likely be able to come in and fill in as a centre-back at Liverpool, making him an excellent option to replace Joe Gomez, who was used across the backline due to his versatility.
In regard to his style of play, Geertruida is comfortable in possession - only three Leipzig players have completed a higher percentage of passes in the Bundesliga (87.1%) - and he is able to play longer balls into forwards.
The defender has also shown that he can pre-empt opposition attacks, stepping up to intercept passes in order to prevent situations from becoming dangerous.

Does Geertruida make more sense that Frimpong?
Frimpong has relatively little experience as a right-back and his offensive style could expose Liverpool defensively given talisman Mohamed Salah also operates on the right and has been given licence to stay forward.
The Reds will need to replace Alexander-Arnold's offensive output with additional signings, but they will have to strike a balance between attack and defence if they are to retain their title.
Geertruida's flexibility could provide Slot with significant tactical flexibility, and with right-back Conor Bradley already sharing a similar style of play to Frimpong, perhaps signing the Leipzig defender would be a more sensible decision.
