Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly ahead of Leeds United and West Ham United in the race for Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly moved ahead in the race for Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy.

Following 13 years at the King Power Stadium, the 38-year-old will be departing the club at the expiration of his current deal at the end of the term.

Vardy has been linked to a number of clubs in the Championship, although it is said that the striker is set to snub the advances of any second-tier outfits.

The energetic forward has provided a threat in the Premier League for the Foxes this term despite his age, bagging seven goals and coming up with three assists across 32 top-flight battles.

Regardless, Ruud van Nistelrooy's troops have slumped to an immediate relegation back to the Championship, stripping the club of its short-lived Premier League status.

Wolves 'lead the race' for Leicester icon Vardy

According to The Sun, one of Leicester's Midlands rivals has taken an early lead in the race for club legend Vardy ahead of the upcoming summer window.

The report claims that Black Country outfit Wolves are the current frontrunners for the 38-year-old, who could enjoy another term in the top flight.

It is understood that Vardy is insistent that he still has plenty to offer in the Premier League, a division in which we won the Golden Boot in 2020.

As well as Vitor Pereira's side, it believed that strugglers West Ham United and newly-promoted Leeds United are also exploring the possibility of signing the veteran.

Wrexham of the Championship are supposedly willing to offer Vardy £50,000 per week to switch the East Midlands for North Wales next term.

Where should Vardy go?

As the current season reaches its final days, Vardy's future away from the King Power Stadium is beginning to take shape, with potential suitors for the star emerging.

The 38-year-old will be delighted that a host of Premier League clubs are interested in securing his services ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

There are also the options of a drop down into the Championship, where Ryan Reynolds's Wrexham and boyhood club Sheffield Wednesday are positioned.
