Everton 'considering Mourinho as Benitez replacement'

Everton could move for Roma boss Jose Mourinho as a replacement for Rafael Benitez, according to a report.

Everton could reportedly attempt to bring Roma boss Jose Mourinho back to the Premier League if Rafael Benitez loses his job as head coach.

The Toffees have lost six of their last seven in the league to drop down into 15th position in the table, which has piled the pressure on Benitez ahead of Monday's clash with Arsenal.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has backed the Spaniard, but the situation could change in the coming weeks if the team's poor run of form continues.

According to The Mirror, the Merseyside giants could move for Mourinho if the decision is made to relieve the current manager of his duties.

The report claims that Mourinho, who took over at Roma in July, is already frustrated in Italy and would be open to returning to England in the near future.

The 58-year-old has had two separate spells in charge of Chelsea, while he has also managed Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in English football.
