Winger Anthony Gordon can equal two Everton goalscoring streaks in Saturday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Anthony Gordon can equal two Everton streaks with a goal in Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

The Toffees head into the showdown with their neighbours still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season.

Having started the campaign with narrow defeats to Chelsea and Aston Villa, Frank Lampard has since witnessed his side claim draws against Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Leeds United.

Gordon, who has remained at Goodison Park despite interest from Chelsea, netted in each of the last two fixtures in West London and Yorkshire.

Should the academy graduate get on the scoresheet against Jurgen Klopp's team, the 21-year-old would equal nine-year and 22-year streaks respectively.

Gordon would become the youngest Everton player to net in three successive Premier League matches since Romelu Lukaku achieved that feat as a 20-year-old back in 2013.

On that occasion, Lukaku, who was on loan from Chelsea, scored in encounters against West Ham United, Newcastle United and Manchester City respectively.

Meanwhile, Gordon is also bidding to become the youngest Englishman to score in three matches in succession since Francis Jeffers did so in 2000.

Jeffers actually scored in four consecutive fixtures, netting against Charlton Athletic, Derby County Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough.

Before his efforts against Brentford and Leeds, Gordon had never previously netted in successive outings since turning professional.
