Hector Bellerin reveals he chose to leave Arsenal this summer to win trophies, following his loan move to Real Betis.

Hector Bellerin has revealed that he chose to leave Arsenal this summer to win trophies, following his loan move to Real Betis.

The 26-year-old decided to join Manuel Pellegrini's side on deadline day, completing the temporary switch to his boyhood club for the 2021-22 campaign.

Bellerin said that his father, a lifelong fan of Betis, was a key reason for his move to the La Liga side, though the Spanish right-back also stressed that he has not joined the club "on vacation".

"Many things are talked about in the market and my father always said that he had to go to Betis, that dream was fulfilled and he is a person who lived it since he was little, and who has instilled it in everyone," Bellerin told the club's official website.

"For me, having that very good relationship with him and being able to make him happy, with a dream, makes me very excited.

"I wanted the sun and heat, but I didn't come here on vacation, but to fight for my position. I've left Arsenal to win things with Real Betis. I'm not here for a holiday."

Bellerin, who will wear the number 19 shirt for Los Verdiblancos, has played 239 times for the Gunners since joining the club's academy in 2011 and has won three FA Cups in 2015, 2017 and 2020.
