Arsenal have reportedly moved to the verge of a 'full agreement' with Sporting Lisbon for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.
The Sweden international has indicated he wants to join Arsenal after spending two years in the Portuguese capital.
Last weekend, it was reported that Arsenal had agreed a fixed fee with Sporting, before it was revealed that the two clubs were still working on the final details.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Gunners are moving ever closer to bringing Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal nearing Gyokeres breakthrough
The report claims that the North London club are on the verge of reaching a 'full agreement' with Sporting over a deal to sign the former Coventry City striker.
Arsenal are hopeful that they can find a 'breakthrough' this weekend, with the details of the add-ons still being discussed between the two clubs.
The 27-year-old is expected to join Arsenal for an initial €63.5m (£55m) and a further €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons.
Gyokeres is waiting for the green light to undergo a medical before he can become the newest member of Mikel Arteta's squad.
What will Gyokeres add to Arsenal?
Arsenal would have felt that a lack of a prolific number nine dented their chances of lifting the Premier League title last term.
With that in mind, they will see Gyokeres as the potential missing piece in their quest to win the title for the first time since 2003-04.
Gyokeres has demonstrated his goalscoring instincts on a consistent basis for Sporting, having netted 97 goals in 102 competitive appearances since he joined the club from Coventry in 2023.
There has been a suggestion that Gyokeres will struggle to reach those heights against tougher opposition in the Premier League, but there is no getting away from the fact that he is one of the best forward options on the market in the current transfer window.
Arsenal will also be encouraged that the Swedish striker has produced the goods in Europe's elite club competition, having registered six goals in eight Champions League matches.
Gyokeres will be looking to become a key player in the Arsenal squad, adding to Arteta's current forward options of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
