Sports Mole previews Monday's Swedish Allsvenskan clash between IFK Norrkoping and Varnamo, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Varnamo will be aiming to record just their second league victory of their Allsvenskan campaign when they make the trip to IFK Norrkoping on Monday night.

Norrkoping will enter Monday's match off the back of a 3-1 defeat to Malmo, and they have only managed to pick up two points from their last five matches in Sweden's top flight.

The White and Blues are actually 13-time Swedish champions, with their last success coming in 2015, but they finished down in 11th last term, so there is clear room for improvement this season.

A disappointing campaign to date has left them in 12th, though, boasting a record of four wins, three draws and eight defeats from their 15 matches to collect 15 points.

Martin Falk's side have only picked up seven points from their eight home league matches this season, but they will be welcoming a Varnamo outfit with the worst away record in the division, claiming only one point from their seven matches away from their own stadium this term.

Varnamo have a record of one win, four draws and 10 defeats from their 15 league matches this season, with a total of seven points leaving them rock bottom of the division.

Arne Sandsto's side will actually enter this match off the back of a win, posting their first success of the campaign courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Djurgarden, so the strugglers are looking to make it successive wins.

Varnamo have finished 10th, fifth and 14th in their last three campaigns at this level of football, with the team needing to survive a relegation playoff last term to keep their spot at this level of football.

The visitors are only six points off 13th-placed Sirius, so it is not time to hit the panic button, and their positive result last time out would certainly have boosted confidence in the camp.

Varnamo have lost their last two league matches against Norrkoping, with the last match between the two sides bringing a 3-1 victory for the latter at the end of April.

Team News

Norrkoping will be without the services of Kevin Hoog Jansson, David Mitov Nilsson and Stephen Bolma through injury.

Christoffer Nyman has been in excellent form this season, scoring 12 times in 16 appearances, and the 32-year-old will again feature in the final third of the field.

Meanwhile, there will be another start for Isak Andri Sigurgeirsson, who has three goals to his name this term.

As for Varnamo, Johnbosco Samuel Kalu is expected to start at centre-forward, with the number nine featuring off the bench in the 1-0 success over Djurgarden last time out.

Simon Thern has been an important player for the visitors this season, scoring twice from midfield, and there will be a spot in the starting side for the 32-year-old.

Meanwhile, Carl Johansson will continue in a wide area for the 27-year-old on Monday night.
