Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Vitor Pereira outlines where the club must strengthen before the end of the summer transfer window.

Vitor Pereira has suggested that there are four areas of the pitch where Wolverhampton Wanderers must strengthen before the end of the summer transfer window.

Despite an exodus of key first-team players and a number of squad members, Wolves have only made the one senior addition with Celta Vigo prospect Fer Lopez making the switch to Molineux.

Fluminense winger Jhon Arias should follow in due course, but Pereira has already voiced his frustration at the club not finalising more deals at this stage.

Realistically-speaking, Wolves will be bringing in more fresh faces prior to their Premier League opener against Manchester City on August 17.

Nevertheless, Pereira has indicated that he ideally wants to add competition in four areas of the pitch before that intimidating first fixture of 2025-26.

Pereira reveals Wolves transfer wishes

Speaking in an interview with O Jogo, Pereira has revealed that he wants to add at least one more central midfielder, two more wingers and seemingly at least one more attacker to compete with Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The Portuguese said: "We have Fer Lopez. He’s got a lot of quality, he’s a young kid, but we need more players.

"We need wingers, We need at least two more players up front. We need another midfielder.

"I don’t know if we also need a player in the back, a left-footed player, which is also important, because we’re always a little bit closer to Toti [Gomes], because if Toti gets injured, we’ll have no one.”

Which positions are most important to Wolves?

Should Arias finalise his move to Molineux in due course, it is plausible to expect the Colombia international to work alongside Marshall Munetsi as Wolves' two number 10s behind Strand Larsen.

However, there is a feeling that Wolves require a creative player to replace the flair that Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha brought the team.

Wolves also have enough central-defensive options to cope for the time being, but wing-backs are a must given what Pereira currently has at his disposal.

Pedro Lima and Ki-Jana Hoever - two players with minimal Premier League experience - are the present right-sided options, with Hugo Bueno and Rodrigo Gomes on the left side.

Most Wolves fans will argue that they require upgrades on both sides, yet it has been relatively quiet on that front.
