Arsenal are aiming to avoid losing their first two home league games of the calendar year since 1962 as Burnley prepare to visit the Emirates on Sunday.

Arsenal will be out to avoid equalling a 60-year-old unwanted record when Burnley pay a visit to the Emirates Stadium for Sunday's Premier League battle.

The Gunners are still winless since the turn of the year, losing three of their four games in all tournaments and exiting the FA Cup and EFL Cup within the space of a month.

Arsenal's first game of 2022 saw them produce a solid display against reigning champions Manchester City, but goals from Rodri and Riyad Mahrez ultimately saw them fall to a 2-1 defeat.

Should Burnley manage to produce the goods in North London once again, it will mark the first time since 1962 that Arsenal have lost their first two home league games of the calendar year.

Furthermore, it has been 10 years since Arsenal lost their first two Premier League matches of the year, going down to Fulham and Swansea City away from home in the 2011-12 season.

Mikel Arteta's side fell to a 1-0 loss at home to Burnley last season, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's own goal settling the contest.
