West Ham United are reportedly still interested in signing Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse in the current transfer window.

West Ham are reportedly still interested in signing James Ward-Prowse from Southampton.

The England international has spent his entire career at St Mary's, scoring 44 goals in 362 appearances for the club.

Despite only signing a new five-year deal with the Saints last August, a recent report indicated that West Ham were weighing up a move for the 27-year-old.

According to Sky Sports News, the Hammers remain interested in signing the midfielder, although they are aware that a deal may be difficult due to the player's lengthy contract.

There is also an expectation that Southampton's asking price will be high, due to the player being an England international, and the fact that the Saints would be selling to a fellow Premier League club.

Ward-Prowse top-scored for the South-Coast side last season, scoring 11 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.
