Stoke City performance frustrates Mark Hughes

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes expresses his disappointment at the way that his side played in their 1-1 Premier League draw with Hull City at the KC Stadium.

Mark Hughes has criticised the way that his Stoke City side played during their 1-1 draw away at Hull City this afternoon.

The visiting Potters fell behind to their 10-man hosts, before Ryan Shawcross secured them a share of the spoils in the closing stages.

Speaking after the match, Hughes told BBC Sport: "The overriding emotion is frustration because we didn't play particularly well. Frustration, but a bit of relief because we got something. We didn't show enough intelligence. We need to be better than that.

"We didn't create enough chances for the superiority in numbers we had. We are not hitting where we were last season. We wanted to hit the ground running but we haven't quite done that. We didn't deserve a great deal so we are a bit grateful."

Next up for Stoke is home League Cup encounter against Portsmouth on Wednesday night.
