Tottenham transfer roundup: Evan Ndicka shortlisted, Christian Eriksen interest

Sports Mole rounds up the latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer news, as Evan Ndicka emerges as a defensive target and Gabriel Jesus snubs interest from the club.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has wasted no time in conducting his summer transfer business, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma all joining the North London club this summer.

More incomings are expected as Spurs prepare to return to the promised land of the Champions League, with a new centre-back and striker thought to be top priorities.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest Tottenham transfer news, including updates on Evan Ndicka, Christian Eriksen and Gabriel Jesus.

Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka has reportedly been added to Tottenham's centre-back shortlist for the current transfer window.

The France Under-21 international became a Europa League champion with Die Adler last term, starting 10 continental matches up to and including the final against Rangers.

Ndicka's form is believed to have attracted the attention of Marseille, but it remains to be seen what the outcome of their proposed transfer ban will be as the Court of Arbitration for Sport handles the case.

According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham are therefore primed to swoop for the 22-year-old, who only has 12 months left on his contract at the Deutsche Bank Park.

Tottenham are now understood to be in pole position to sign Ndicka in the coming weeks, although Manchester United have also been credited with an interest.

Tottenham yet to approach Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen's time at Tottenham was productive to say the least, as the 30-year-old's 305 appearances for the North London club brought him 69 goals and 90 assists, albeit without a piece of silverware.

Following his remarkable return to football with Brentford, numerous clubs are being tipped to sign Eriksen, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the month.

The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham do indeed hold an interest in bringing the Denmark international back to North London, but Spurs are yet to formally follow that up.

Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on Eriksen's future, although Brentford have still not given up hope of tying the former Inter Milan playmaker down to a longer deal.

After returning to football with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), Eriksen scored one goal and set up four more in 11 Premier League appearances for Brentford last season.

Spurs concede defeat in Gabriel Jesus race?

Finding the perfect competition and backup for Harry Kane has proven difficult for Spurs over the past few years, and Conte is keen to rectify that before the new season commences.

Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus has seemingly emerged as a prime target for the final third, although the Premier League champions are still driving a hard bargain for the Brazil international, whose contract expires next summer.

Tottenham may ultimately be forced to give up their pursuit of Jesus, though, as Goal claims that Arsenal are hopeful of announcing the 25-year-old's signing in the coming days.

City are still said to be holding out for a £50m fee for Jesus, and the Gunners are reportedly confident that they will meet such demands with a new proposal, having already seen a £30m bid turned down.

Jesus scored eight goals and provided nine assists for City in the 2021-22 Premier League season and previously worked under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta during the Spaniard's time as Pep Guardiola's lieutenant.
