Manchester United reportedly push for the signing of Napoli's Victor Osimhen, who could join the 20-time English champions for as little as £40m.

Manchester United are reportedly pushing for the signing of Napoli's Victor Osimhen, with the Nigeria international regarded as the English club's leading striker target during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils will prioritise the acquisition of a new forward in the upcoming market due to Rasmus Hojlund's ongoing struggles, and Ipswich Town's Liam Delap continues to be heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

While Delap is a genuine option for the 20-time English champions, it is understood that Osimhen is the club's leading target, with Man United head coach Ruben Amorim a huge admirer of the 26-year-old.

There will allegedly be a £63m release clause for non-Italian clubs in his Napoli contract this summer, but according to The Mirror, Man United believe that a deal could be done for a fee in the region of £40m.

The Nigerian's contract with his Italian club is due to expire in June 2026, meaning that Napoli run the risk of losing him on a free transfer unless they agree to sell him during the summer market.

Osimhen has scored 76 goals and registered 17 assists in 133 appearances for Napoli, but he has spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The striker has scored 30 goals and registered seven assists in 35 outings for his loan club this term, while he also has a strong record for Nigeria, netting 26 times in 41 appearances, in addition to providing 11 assists.

According to Tuttosport, Man United have already reached a 'basic agreement' with the striker's representatives over salary terms, with the Red Devils seemingly at the head of the queue for his services.

A deal would be more straightforward for the English giants if they were able to secure Champions League football for next season, with their route into the competition coming via the Europa League.

Man United will take on Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the competition, with the first leg coming at San Mames next week, ahead of a potential final against Tottenham Hotspur or Bodo/Glimt.

Osimhen could join Cunha in new-look Man United attack

The Red Devils are also allegedly nearing an agreement over a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha.

The Brazil international has scored 16 times and registered four assists in 31 appearances for Wolves during the 2024-25 campaign, and it is understood that Man United have made him a top target for the summer window.

There is believed to be a £62.5m release clause in his contract, and the deals for Cunha and Osimhen could be funded by the summer departures of Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony.

There also remains huge speculation surrounding the future of Alejandro Garnacho, and it is understood that Man United will sell the Argentina international during this summer's transfer window if a suitable offer arrives.
