Manchester United are reportedly considering making a move for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, with the Red Devils now focusing on bringing a new centre-forward to Old Trafford.
Matheus Cunha will soon be followed to Man United by Bryan Mbeumo, with the 20-time English champions on the verge of confirming a £71m deal for the latter, who is set to arrive from Brentford.
Man United's goalscoring issues were again on display against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon; Chido Obi started through the middle in the pre-season friendly, before Rasmus Hojlund featured in the second period.
The Red Devils have high hopes for the hugely-talented Obi, but Hojlund struggled badly last term, and he again failed to make his mark in the goalless draw with Leeds in Sweden.
Reports in Portugal on Sunday claimed that Man United had hijacked Arsenal's move for Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres, but the Sweden international is still expected to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
Man United 'considering move' for Leipzig's Sesko
Sesko has also been linked with Arsenal this summer, with the 22-year-old viewed as one of the outstanding young centre-forwards in world football.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Man United made an approach for Sesko 12 months ago but were unsuccessful, with the forward deciding to remain with Leipzig.
Jacobs claims that Sesko is now very much back on the English club's radar, with a move being considered, as Ruben Amorim's side look to bring in a new centre-forward.
Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson and Aston VIlla's Ollie Watkins are also said to be targets, and the exit of Marcus Rashford to Barcelona will help put the Red Devils in a position to pay out another big fee for an attacker.
Would Sesko be a good signing for Man United?
Sesko has scored 39 goals and registered eight assists in 87 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, following on from the 29 goals and 11 assists that he managed at Red Bull Salzburg.
The Slovenia international enjoyed a strong 2024-25 campaign for his German club, netting 21 goals and registering six assists in 45 appearances, including four goals in eight Champions League matches.
Sesko's release clause is believed to be in the region of £75m, but it is unlikely that Man United would be willing to go to that amount for the striker.
There is potentially a deal to be done, though, and with Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho set to follow Rashford out of the door this summer, a deal for Sesko could be on the cards, and the striker has the potential to be an excellent signing for the 20-time English champions.
