Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly commence negotiations for a Brazil international ahead of the end of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in line to battle it out for a Brazil international previously linked with another Premier League side.

The Red Devils and Wolves can each claim to have enjoyed a productive summer transfer window thus far, particularly the former who have spent in excess of £150m.

However, both clubs are expected to conduct business before the August 30 deadline as they bid to improve on their efforts from 2023-24.

From United's perspective, they have been heavily linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who may arrive at Old Trafford on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy.

Meanwhile, Wolves are seemingly focused on adding a new goalkeeper and centre-back to their ranks having been credited with an interest in Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and Burnley defender Dara O'Shea.

That said, according to a report by TNT Sports BR, the two clubs may be ready to battle it out for what would be a major addition to their engine room.

Andre back on Premier League radar

Fluminense midfielder Andre is allegedly still being considered for a transfer to the Premier League having had admirers in Liverpool and Fulham in the past.

The Cottagers have since spent big on Sander Berge as a replacement for Joao Palhinha, but Liverpool are still looking to acquire the services of a new central-midfielder.

Andre has established himself as one of the best players in his position in the Brazilian top flight, his performances earning him five caps for his country since June 2023.

A total of 196 appearances have been made for Fluminense, contributing four goals and four assists, although his club are currently sitting in the Brasileiro relegation zone.

Both United and Wolves are said to be in negotiations with Andre's representatives, although it is added that no formal offer has been made to Fluminense.

Who would be the best fit?

If United get a deal over the line for Ugarte, the likelihood is that he would partner Kobbie Mainoo in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup. That would theoretically leave Andre looking at a place on the substitutes' bench.

He would be an ideal alternative to the Uruguay international, yet he would likely earn more starts if he were to make the move to Molineux.

Gary O'Neil already has Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes, Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore as his options for the two more defensive-minded midfield roles, yet Andre would arguably be an upgrade on the latter two.

Furthermore, Wolves' squad is stacked with Brazilian and Portuguese players, bringing a familiarity to Andre both on and off the pitch.
