Barcelona are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Atalanta BC and Nigeria attacker Ademola Lookman ahead of the summer transfer window.

Barcelona have reportedly entered talks with the representatives of Atalanta BC attacker Ademola Lookman.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2023-24 campaign, winning African Player of the Year while also collecting a Europa League winners medal as part of La Dea.

Lookman has continued his sensational form into the current season, with the former Everton attacker scoring 13 goals and providing five assists across 23 Serie A appearances.

As a result, there has been plenty of interest in the forward from across the European ecosystem, particularly in England, where Chelsea are believed to be preparing a bid.

The ex-Fulham man is currently on international duty with Nigeria as the Super Eagles aim to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North America.

Barcelona enter talks for Lookman?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, a new major player has entered the race alongside the likes of Enzo Maresca's Chelsea for the talents of Lookman.

Sitting pretty at the summit of the La Liga standings, Barcelona are said to be targeting a summer swoop for the signature of the 27-year-old.

It is understood that the Catalan club have commenced discussions with representatives of the player over a potential switch to Spain during the off-season.

Hansi Flick's troops are evidently not alone in their fondness of Lookman, who is supposedly wanted by Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Valued at €65m (£54.2m) by Atalanta, the 27-time international is said to currently prefer a move back to the English capital ahead of next season.

Who needs Lookman the most?

Despite the world-beating form of Raphinha in the Barca side this term, Flick's flock are still targeting the acquisition of attacking reinforcements over the summer.

While Liverpool are set to canter towards the Premier League crown, there is uncertainty in forward areas, with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz potentially leaving Anfield at the end of the campaign.

Chelsea are unlikely to welcome Jadon Sancho back to Stamford Bridge in 2025-26, meaning that there would be room for arrivals to the Stamford Bridge forward line.

Arsenal have been severely impacted by injuries to key attackers over the course of this term and could benefit from the signing of a top-tier talent during the summer trading point.
