Liverpool are reportedly close to keeping Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk next season, with the pair's contract extensions 'as good as done'.

Liverpool are reportedly set to confirm the contract extensions of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

The Reds were going through a transitional phase at the beginning of the season, with Arne Slot replacing the legendary Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.

Liverpool have continued their excellence under the expert tutelage of the Dutchman and currently occupy top spot in the Premier League standings.

The Merseyside giants extended their lead over second-placed Arsenal to seven points on Wednesday night, when they shared the spoils with Everton at Goodison Park.

Often Liverpool's final match of top-flight campaigns, Slot's machine will take on relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool's Salah, Van Dijk deals 'as good as done'

According to former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, as per Football Insider, Liverpool are edging towards the announcement of major contract renewals.

The report claims that the deals to keep both Van Dijk and Salah at the Anfield giants for at least another two years are 'as good as done'.

It is understood that Salah has attracted serious interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal, who would supposedly be in pole position to sign the winger.

However, it is believed that the Egyptian is set to remain on the red side of Merseyside alongside club captain and towering defender Van Dijk.

Salah is on course for his best-ever campaign in the Premier League, netting 22 goals and providing 14 assists across 24 top-flight contests so far.

Trent's undecided future

While Salah and Van Dijk are reportedly likely to stay put at Anfield, there are more concerns over the future of academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The report states that the right-back is yet to commit his future to Slot's Reds, with the player's contract expiring at the conclusion of the term.

It is said that Alexander-Arnold could make a final decision on his destination for the 2025-26 term at the end of this season amid interest from European champions Real Madrid.
