Jurgen Klopp provides a positive update on Virgil van Dijk's fitness after revealing messages between the pair following his injury scare against Turkey.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed an exchange which took place with Virgil van Dijk following the defender's injury scare while playing for the Netherlands.

Van Dijk - who has played every minute of Premier League football this season after recovering from his devastating ACL rupture - sparked fears of another injury after being seen limping against Turkey during the international break.

However, the former Southampton man played down the issue straight away, and Klopp has also provided a positive update on the player following messages between the pair.

Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, Klopp said: "With Virgil, that was obviously a scary moment, you can imagine. I sent him a message after the game, 'Are you alright?' 'Yes.' '100 per cent?' '200 per cent.' 'Come on, send me a video of you without limping...' 'I'm only limping off.'

"So he called me from the bus and said, 'boss, I'm fine!' I said, 'Why are you limping then?' He said, 'My wife asked the same!' So, yeah, that was a bit of a tricky moment but apart from that, no, all fine [for the other international players]."

Klopp also confirmed that Harvey Elliott and Naby Keita are fit and raring to go, but Roberto Firmino remains out while Takumi Minamino and James Milner are both uncertain for Sunday's game against Leeds United.
