Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's Champions League clash with AC Milan.

Liverpool have been dealt a crushing injury blow with Harvey Elliott ahead of their Champions League opener with AC Milan at Anfield on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old once again started in the Premier League against Leeds United but suffered a horrific ankle injury after a challenge from Pascal Struijk, and the midfield starlet will soon go under the knife to rectify the issue.

With Elliott now on the sidelines, Jordan Henderson should earn a recall to the midfield alongside Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho - the latter of whom is fine to play after the FIFA-imposed ban on Brazilian players was lifted.

Alisson Becker was also given the green light to feature against Leeds and should form part of an unchanged backline for the Reds, with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip keeping Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez out of the side for now.

Neco Williams remains out with an ankle issue but was never likely to start here, while Diogo Jota is guaranteed another start up top as Roberto Firmino continues to struggle with an ankle problem.

Mohamed Salah will hope to keep the momentum going from his 100th Premier League goal at the weekend, while Sadio Mane is aiming to become just the fourth African player to chalk up 20 goals in the Champions League.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mane
