Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce opens up on issues around the Magpies' summer transfer business and the issues he faces with his squad.

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has spoken on his views of the issues at the club, ahead of Friday's Premier League clash with Leeds United.

The Magpies sit on just one point from their opening four games of the new Premier League term, and a growing section of the fanbase is said to be turning on the former Aston Villa boss, who has pointed fingers at owner Mike Ashley over investment into the squad.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Friday's home game against Leeds, Bruce again criticised Ashley, saying: "Do you not think I want better players? Do you not think I want a better squad to choose from and the ability to go out and compete at the top end of the transfer market? It's not possible, so, I have to accept it and get on with my job as best as I can."

Newcastle's only piece of incoming business over the summer was the permanent capture of midfielder Joe Willock from Arsenal, after he spent the second half of last season on loan at St. James' Park.

They now head into Friday's clash on the back of consecutive losses, having returned from the international break to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford, where they were handed a 4-1 defeat.
