Leeds United bring in Vurnon Anita from Newcastle United

Leeds United sign Netherlands international Vurnon Anita from Newcastle United on a three-year deal.

Leeds United have confirmed the arrival of defensive midfielder Vurnon Anita from Newcastle United on a three-year deal.

The 28-year-old becomes the Whites' sixth signing of a busy summer, joining Felix Wiedwald, Mateusz Klich, Hadi Sacko, Pontus Jansson and Madger Gomes at Elland Road.

Anita has spent the past five years with Newcastle, helping the club return to the top flight at the first time of asking last season with 27 appearances to his name.

Leeds have reportedly seen off interest from a number of rivals to land the Netherlands international, who also boasts seven seasons with Dutch giants Ajax on his CV.

Anita may be used for the first time for his his new side in Saturday's opening pre-season friendly clash against Guiseley at Nethermoor Park, as United gear up for the start of the new campaign.
