Birmingham City reportedly decide to join the race to sign Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone, who is available for just £2m.

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Birmingham City.

Since the Tigers were relegated to the Championship, the 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from the KCOM Stadium due to a £2m release clause in his contract.

Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion have both been credited with an interest in his signature and according to the Birmingham Mail, the Blues are ready to launch an approach of their own.

Huddlestone is likely to favour remaining in the Premier League over dropping down to the second tier, but Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp is looking to put together a team capable of challenging for promotion.

David Stockdale and Marc Roberts have already arrived at St Andrew's, and Huddlestone would be regarded as a first-team starter in the centre of midfield.

During his four years with Hull, he has scored eight goals from 162 appearances in all competitions.
