Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion are both competing to sign Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone, according to reports.

Newcastle United have joined West Bromwich Albion in the race to sign Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone, according to reports.

The 30-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Tigers last season but could not prevent the side from suffering instant relegation back to the Championship.

According to The Sun, Newcastle have enquired about the availability of Huddlestone, who is said to have a contract clause allowing him to leave the KCOM Stadium for as little as £2m.

The report also suggests that the Magpies could face competition from West Brom, as their manager Tony Pulis looks to replace the departed Darren Fletcher, who left for Stoke City.

Huddlestone has made a total of 161 appearances for Hull since his 2013 move, scoring seven times and notching up 15 assists.
