Javier Hernandez reportedly wants wages of £140,000 a week to join West Ham United from Bayer Leverkusen, which could force the Hammers to look elsewhere.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez is reportedly open to joining West Ham United, but only if they offer him wages of £140,000 a week.

The Hammers are said to be leading the way to land the Mexico international, despite rumoured interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Hernandez is available to purchase for £13m this summer, which is within United's reach, but The Mirror claims that matching his salary demands could prove a big sticking point.

West Ham would have to shatter the £100,000 a week that they currently pay top earner Andy Carroll, totalling more than £7m a year.

Boss Slaven Bilic is desperate to bring in added firepower this summer, with the same report suggesting that the Irons may instead turn to Burnley's Andre Gray to solve their problems.
