World number four Johanna Konta believes that she must become both mentally and physically stronger if she is to win a Grand Slam title.

British women's number one Johanna Konta has acknowledged that "there is a lot of work to be done" if she is to build on her semi-final run at Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old became the first British female since Virginia Wade in 1978 to reach the last four of the competition, where she ultimately came unstuck against Venus Williams.

Konta hopes to one day go a couple of steps further by making it all the way and winning a Grand Slam, with next month's US Open her next shot at doing so, but she admits that she has much to do before reaching that stage.

"I've got a massive amount of room to grow in all areas of my game, to be quite honest," she told BBC Sport. "I know there's a lot of work to be done between now and achieving such things.

"I definitely feel I can physically improve. I'd like to get stronger, move even better on the court - maximise my movement. I'm constantly looking to be more mentally strong and technically sound. I'm trying to leave no stone unturned."

Konta has climbed up the rankings from 150 at the start of 2015 to number four in the current standings.
