Former Everton and current Fiorentina striker Moise Kean collapses on the pitch as a result of a head injury during his side's match against Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Fiorentina striker Moise Kean was taken to hospital after collapsing on the pitch and sustaining a head injury during his side's 1-0 defeat away to Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Kean was named in the starting lineup for the Serie A club but collided with defender Pawel Dawidowicz's knee after falling over when battling for possession in the 58th minute.

The 24-year-old appeared to hit his head against Dawidowicz and received treatment off the pitch before coming back on despite having a visible gash above his eye.

However, Kean lost his balance in the 64th minute and fell to floor, with players from both Fiorentina and Hellas Verona alerting medics to the situation before the match was halted.

The striker was taken off on a stretcher wearing a neck brace, and the club announced that he was in hospital undergoing tests due to head trauma.

The numbers behind Moise Kean's terrific 2024-25 season

The former Everton, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus forward has experienced somewhat of a resurgence this season, with his 15 league goals for Fiorentina more than he had managed in his prior three seasons.

In fact, his tally of 15 is the most he has ever scored in a single league campaign in his career, and he has averaged 0.79 goals and assists per 90 minutes in Serie A in 2024-25.

Kean has found the back of the net 13 times and provided one assist in his last 16 top-flight outings, and only Atalanta's Mateo Retegui (21) has scored more often in the league than him.

The striker has led his side's charge for European qualification, and there is a chance that Fiorentina could qualify for the Champions League given they are in sixth place with 42 points, seven fewer than fourth-placed Juventus.

Regardless of Fiorentina's ambitions this campaign Kean's health is of paramount importance, and considering the seriousness of head injuries, he should be given all the time he needs to recover.
