Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink confirmed as new Burton Albion manager

Burton Albion confirm the appointment of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as the managerial successor to Gary Rowett.

Burton Albion have confirmed the appointment of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as their new manager.

The position has been vacant at the League Two outfit since Gary Rowett departed for the Birmingham City job last month.

Since ending his prestigious playing career in 2008, Hasselbaink has worked as a coach at Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, while also spending a season in charge of Royal Antwerp.

"I'm very excited to join Burton Albion and follow in the footsteps of Gary Rowett and Nigel Clough," the Dutchman told the club's official website. "I can't wait to get started and I'm delighted to be given the opportunity.

"I'm looking forward to working with the players. Until now they have done really well and I'm looking to take them a step further. I have seen quite a bit of them and I'm excited to be working with a talented group."

Hasselbaink will be assisted by former MK Dons academy coach David Oldfield at the Pirelli Stadium.
