Fulham are reportedly in talks to sign Arsenal forward Reiss Nelson on loan in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old progressed through the youth ranks at Arsenal and has made 90 senior appearances for the Gunners, scoring eight goals.
In the 2024-25 season, Nelson was loaned to Fulham, where he made 13 appearances and scored twice across all competitions. His progress was cut short by a hamstring injury he sustained in December.
In February, he suffered a separate hamstring issue in his opposite leg and had to undergo surgery. It appears that Fulham are ready to give him another chance, and according to BBC Sport, they want to bring him to Craven Cottage this summer.
The Cottagers are in talks with the Gunners over a loan deal, and all parties are trying to find a resolution.
Nelson is not in Mikel Arteta's immediate plans
Arsenal are looking to build a strong squad for next season, and they are close to signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea.
The Gunners could further bolster their attacking areas, with Eberechi Eze being linked with a move. Nelson is way down the pecking order at the north London club, and he is not in Arteta's immediate plans.
The south London native previously spent time on loan at Feyenoord, and it would be his third loan in the last four years if he completes the move to Fulham.
The homegrown winger has two years left on his current deal with Arsenal, but it appears that his long-term future lies away from the Emirates.
Arsenal should change their transfer strategy regarding loans
The Gunners should explore ways to generate funds from unwanted players, and it is high time they stop sending established players on loan.
The likes of Nelson, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Fabio Vieira are no longer kids, and Arsenal should consider selling them permanently.
Even if Nelson enjoys a solid campaign with Fulham, the Gunners cannot sell him at a high price next summer because of his contract situation.
Fulham are the only side in the division yet to make any signings so far in the summer window, but this could change if they secure an agreement for the Arsenal winger in the coming days.
