Manchester United reportedly remain confident that they will be able to complete a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo before heading to the United States for their pre-season tour.
The Red Devils have thus far been unsuccessful in their attempts to agree a deal with Brentford for Mbeumo, with two offers for the Cameroon international allegedly being turned down.
Man United's second offer is said to have been in excess of £62m, but Brentford were not happy with the structure of the deal, with the Bees wanting more money to be paid up front.
Newcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Mbeumo this summer, but the attacker has made it clear that he only wants to move to the 20-time English champions.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United are not concerned by the delay and still expect to have a deal in place by the start of next week, allowing the forward to travel with the squad to the United States.
Man United 'expected to secure' Mbeumo deal by start of next week
The Red Devils will begin their preparations for the 2025-26 campaign with a pre-season friendly against Leeds United on Saturday, before making the trip to the United States to take part in the Premier League Summer Series.
Man United will face West Ham United in New Jersey on July 26, Bournemouth in Chicago on July 30 and Everton on August 3 in Atlanta.
The 20-time English champions will then return to the United Kingdom for their final pre-season match of the summer, with Fiorentina their opponents at Old Trafford on August 9.
Should Man United be unable to sign Mbeumo before Tuesday's flight, it is understood that the 25-year-old could still link up with the squad at a later date, allowing him to feature at some stage of the tour.
Why have Man United thus far been unable to sign Mbeumo?
The hold-up in the Mbeumo deal has been down to money, with Man United not prepared to go above what they deem to be a fair deal for a player who is out of contract next summer.
Man United's first bid is said to have been worth £55m, while the second is believed to have been in the region of £62.5m including add-ons, and in truth, the two clubs are now not far apart in terms of their valuations.
The transfer saga should come to an end in the near future, and Man United will be signing a player who scored 20 Premier League goals during an excellent 2024-25 campaign.
