Hertha Berlin reportedly agree a loan deal for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, although Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is yet to sign off on the move.

Hertha Berlin have reportedly agreed a loan deal for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The midfielder's agent recently claimed that the 27-year-old has already agreed terms to join Hertha in January, but a recent report suggested that new Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was not currently prepared to sanction the sale as he assessed the squad.

Arteta said after Sunday's clash with Chelsea that he did not want the Switzerland international to leave the Emirates Stadium during the winter market.

However, according to The Telegraph, Hertha have agreed terms over a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch in next summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Arteta is yet to sign off on the move, though, with the Spaniard wary of leaving himself short of options in the middle of the park during the second half of the 2019-20 campaign.

The former Basel youngster, who has a contract in London until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy earlier this season following an on-field outburst.
