Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo score the goals as Wolverhampton Wanderers record a 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League at Molineux.

Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo scored the goals as Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded a 2-1 win over Fulham in the Premier League at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams entered the match off the back of 3-0 scorelines, with Wolves losing at Newcastle United, while Fulham overcame Brighton & Hove Albion.

Marco Silva's side were bidding to make it three straight successes in England's top flight, but Wolves managed to return to winning ways courtesy of second-half efforts from Ait-Nouri and Semedo, with Alex Iwobi netting a last-gasp consolation for the visitors.

The result has moved Wolves into eighth position in the Premier League table, one point behind seventh-placed West Ham United, while Fulham stay 12th, now on 35 points from 28 games this term.

Fulham had the first opportunity of the match in the sixth minute through Andreas Pereira, but Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa made an excellent stop to keep out the attacker's curling effort.

Wolves had to wait until the 17th minute for the first sight of goal, but Pedro Neto's effort was wide of the post, and it was an even contest at Molineux in the opening half of action.

Harry Wilson had a golden chance to send Fulham ahead in the 24th minute when he was released by Iwobi, but the attacker's effort missed the post, with Wolves given a huge let-off.

The visitors came even closer in the 35th minute, with Tosin Adarabioyo hitting the crossbar from a central position, and Wolves then lost Neto to another hamstring problem in the closing stages of the first half.

Fulham started the second period on the front foot, with Wilson bending one just wide in the 49th minute, but Wolves were ahead in the 52nd minute, with Ait-Nouri firing into the back of the net off an assist from Toti Gomes.

Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno made a big save to keep out an effort from Nathan Fraser just before the hour, before Max Kilman headed over from the resulting corner.

Wolves managed to double their advantage in the 67th minute, though, with Semedo's effort from just outside the box being deflected into the back of the net by Tom Cairney.

Iwobi missed the target from a Willian cross in the 75th minute, as Fulham looked to answer back, before Sa made a save to keep out a header from Rodrigo Muniz.

Joao Palhinha also headed over in the latter stages, with eight minutes of added time signalled at Molineux, and Iwobi managed to register for the visitors in the ninth of those, flicking past Sa from close range, but there was never going to be enough time for Silva's side to snatch a late leveller.

Wolves will now switch their attention to the FA Cup, preparing to take on Coventry City in the quarter-finals of the competition next Saturday, while Fulham will continue their Premier League campaign with a London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on the same afternoon.
