Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Bruno Lage insists that he was pleased with the performance of his side during the 1-0 Premier League defeat at West Ham United.

Head coach Bruno Lage has suggested that he was pleased with Wolverhampton Wanderers' performance during Sunday's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United.

In a Premier League fixture which was decided by a second-half Tomas Soucek goal, Wolves did not have a shot on target until the closing minutes of the match as Ruben Neves's long-range effort was comfortably saved.

However, while Wolves now sit seven points adrift of the Champions League places and are outsiders to qualify for Europe, Lage has hinted that he remains optimistic for the future.

Speaking to Match Of The Day, the Portuguese said: "When you look for the game, both teams played well, that is the thing we need to say. We started better in the first 20 minutes and after West Ham came.

"We continued to play our way, the way we conceded the goal is disappointing, but in the end of February, we have 12 or 13 games and our goal is to continue in the same way that we played here against this tough team.

"When you look for the game, the way we played against a strong team and a manger with experience away from home - in the middle of February, we have 40 points, we put our fans to dream about the Champions League."

Wolves are next in action when they play host to Crystal Palace on March 5.
