AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori reveals his thoughts on speculation that linked him with a transfer to a Premier League club during the winter transfer window.

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has suggested that he was never close to a winter transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tomori departed Chelsea for San Siro in January 2021 in search of regular football having dropped down the pecking order at his boyhood club.

The move proved to be an inspired choice with the England international having since made 167 appearances in all competitions and won a Serie A title.

However, there was talk during the latter stages of the recent transfer window that Tomori may return to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou had been in the market for a new central defender at a time when the 27-year-old had not always been featuring in the starting lineup at Milan.

Tomori reveals desire to stay at Milan

While Tomori had an opportunity for another stint in London, he has revealed that he was eager to remain in Italy where a new era has just commenced under Sergio Conceicao.

Speaking at a press conference, as quoted by Football Italia, Tomori said: "I've always said I feel at home here, and nothing has changed.

"I know there are clubs and people who talk during every transfer window, but I was and still am focused on what I must do: stay here.

"It is an honour and a pleasure to wear this jersey. I never felt the need or desire to leave. As long as they want me, I'll stay here."

Important figure under Conceicao?

With 22 starts and four substitute outings in all competitions this season, Tomori has never spent a prolonged period out of the team.

Since the arrival of Conceicao, though, Tomori has completed the 90 minutes of eight occasions since the turn of the year and made a further two other outings.

Having missed the weekend's game with Hellas Verona through suspension, Tomori appears in line to return to the starting lineup for the second leg of the Champions League knockout playoff tie with Feyenoord on Tuesday night.
