Harry Kane's record vs. Crystal Palace

Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Harry Kane's record against the Eagles.

Tottenham Hotspur will aim to claim their first win of 2023 at the second attempt when they tackle Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in Wednesday's Premier League London derby.

Antonio Conte's side have failed to triumph in either of their top-flight matches since the World Cup break, drawing 2-2 with Brentford before a lowly 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa on New Year's Day.

Talisman Harry Kane sparked Spurs' comeback against the former on Boxing Day before producing a toothless showing against Villa, but the England captain is partial to a goal against the Eagles.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Kane's record against Palace ahead of Wednesday's capital clash.

Kane has already taken on Palace 18 times in his career across all competitions, including a brief substitute cameo against the Eagles in a 2-2 Championship draw for Leicester City in 2013.

Since making a name for himself at Tottenham, Kane has met Palace 16 times in the Premier League and once in the FA Cup, the latter of which ended in a 1-0 fifth-round defeat in 2015-16 with the England skipper as captain.

In the top flight, however, the 29-year-old has amassed an impressive eight goals and five assists from his 16 meetings with the Eagles, with Spurs winning 11, drawing three and losing two of those encounters.

Kane did not have to wait long for his first contribution against Palace, finding the back of the net in a 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park in the 2014-15 season, and he scored in the exact same fixture in the 2015-16 campaign.

Selhurst Park has certainly become a happy hunting ground for Kane, who set up a Christian Eriksen winner there in the 2016-17 season before netting the crucial goal himself in a 1-0 success in 2017-18.

The Englishman failed to score or assist against Palace in the 2018-19 season, but he reverted to type in the COVID-hit 2019-20 season, once again scoring Tottenham's only goal in a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

An identical occurrence happened in the 2020-21 showdown at Selhurst Park before Kane's finest appearance against Palace yet, as he scored a brace and set up two more in a 4-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in March 2021.

Kane could not prevent Tottenham from suffering a 3-0 loss to Palace away from home last season, but he scored the Lilywhites' first in their own 3-0 win over Patrick Vieira's side in North London on Boxing Day 2021.

In just his last six Premier League clashes with Palace, Kane has directly contributed to eight goals - scoring five himself and setting up three more - and only against Southampton (11 goals, six assists) has he also scored and set up at least five goals in the Premier League.

Another personal accolade is also on the line for Kane, who could become the first-ever Premier League player to score at least 10 goals on six different days of the week; the 29-year-old has double figures in games on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and currently sits on nine strikes from 28 Wednesday matches.
