Oxford United were embroiled in a relegation battle for much of last term, and they will be hoping that their summer business can help them avoid another scrap in 2025-26.

After their promotion to the Championship from the third tier in 2023-24, the U's struggled under Des Buckingham and could have returned to League One if not for current boss Gary Rowett.

The former Millwall and Stoke City manager took charge in December 2024 and impressively went unbeaten across his first 9 games in the dugout, winning five times in the process.

A 2-0 victory over Sunderland in late April saw the club secure their status in the division with two matches to play, and they went on to finish 17th, four points and five places clear of the drop zone.

Ahead of next season, a number of players have departed the club upon the expiry of their contracts, while Ruben Rodrigues and Idris El Mizouni have left for undisclosed fees.

Rowett will now be keen to find adequate replacements and improvements as soon as possible to have as close to a complete pre-season as possible with his full squad, with ambitions of climbing further away from the Championship relegation zone next term.
