Newcastle United reportedly agree a fee with Ipswich Town for striker Daryl Murphy.

Ipswich Town have reportedly accepted a fee from Newcastle United for star striker Daryl Murphy.

The 33-year-old is thought to have submitted a transfer request at Portman Road after learning of the Magpies' interest in him and was left out of the Ipswich squad to face Preston North End today.

According to Sky Sports News, Murphy will now travel to Tyneside to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez, who has already made nine signings this summer, recently admitted that he is looking for a new striker, winger and left-back as he attempts to lead the club back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

Meanwhile, the potential transfer is the latest headache for Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy, who is already short of options up front as the transfer deadline approaches.
