Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will contest his violent conduct charge following an apparent elbow on Winston Reid.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will contest his charge of alleged violent conduct following an incident during Sunday's Premier League match against West Ham United.

The Argentine was charged by the Football Association retrospectively after referee Andre Marriner missed an apparent elbow on Hammers defender Winston Reid.

Aguero faces a three-match ban if found guilty, which would see him ruled out of the derby against Manchester United after the international break, in addition to games against Bournemouth and Swansea City.

However, the 28-year-old has contested the charge, and a date for a disciplinary hearing will now be determined.

Aguero will not be in action during the current international break due to a calf injury.
