Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly intervenes in the club's contract negotiations with Christian Eriksen in order to speed the process up.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly intervened in discussions over a new contract for playmaker Christian Eriksen.

The two parties have been in talks over a new deal for the Dane since March, but are yet to come to an agreement as they continue to wrangle over wages.

However, Press Association Sport reports that Pochettino became concerned that the negotiations were having an impact on Eriksen's form, and so has stepped in to speed the process up.

Eriksen is understood to be keen to stay at the club, but rejected Tottenham's opening offer due to it being too far away from the club's highest earners.

The 24-year-old is currently paid £35,000 a week at White Hart Lane - around half what the likes of Hugo Lloris, Erik Lamela and Mousa Dembele earn.

Pochettino's involvement has reportedly led to a breakthrough in negotiations, though, with Eriksen expected to sign a four-year deal with the club.
