Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada says that he is "very excited" about the future of the club while discussing this summer's transfer plans.

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has said that he is "very excited" about the future of the club, while he has promised that the Red Devils would act "with ambition" during this summer's transfer window.

A disastrous 2024-25 campaign saw Man United finish down in 15th spot in the Premier League table, while they lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, so qualification for the 2025-26 Champions League was not secured.

Man United are expected to soon confirm the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Brazilian set to be the club's first signing of what is shaping up to be a hugely important window.

Berrada, speaking on the club's post-season Tour, has insisted that the Red Devils 'know what they need to do' this summer.

"I can't talk about specifics, but I can say we've been planning for many months now," he told MUTV. "We were ready for all the different scenarios. Now we know what we need to do. We have a very clear idea of where we need to invest in the squad to improve.

Berrada insists Man United will act "with ambition" in transfer market

"So Jason [Wilcox], his team and Ruben [Amorim] have been in talks for many months. And now it's a question of executing that plan and doing it in a way that is prudent. But at the same time, with ambition.

"Ruben spoke really well on Sunday, and he's right: the past is the past. It's important to learn, as I said, now we need to stay together, stay United and I say thank you to the fans again.

"The owner has also been really supportive in the transition here and now we just need to work really hard and do everything we can to bring the club back to the top and I'm very excited about what is coming. I'm sure the good days will be back.

"It's a privilege to work for this club. It's been a difficult season and we're undergoing a transformation on and off the pitch.

"We had to take some really tough decision to put the club in the best place possible for the future and our fans have been incredibly supportive and patient throughout this process and I can only say thank you.

"Now, really our job is to focus on the future and learn from what has happened this season, improve and make sure we continue aiming to get back to the top again."

Man United suffered a 1-0 loss to ASEAN All-Stars in their opening post-season friendly on Wednesday.

Maung Maung Lwin scored the only goal of the contest in the second period to hand the Red Devils a shock defeat in Malaysia.

Man United will now take on Hong Kong, China in Hong Kong on Friday in the final match of their post-season Tour, and the team will then not be back in action until their first friendly of the summer against Leeds United on July 19.
