Liverpool are reportedly considering a spectacular move for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford during this summer's transfer window.

Liverpool are reportedly considering what would be a stunning move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford before the end of this summer's transfer window.

The Reds are keen on Newcastle United's Alexander Isak, but it is highly unlikely that the Magpies will sell the Sweden international this summer, with the Premier League champions therefore considering other options.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike is also said to be a target, in addition to Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, Brentford's Yoane Wissa, Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Real Madrid's Rodrygo.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Rashford features on their shortlist, with Arne Slot's side considering an incredible move for the England international this summer.

The report claims that Rashford's name has been mentioned in transfer discussions at Anfield, and a controversial move this summer has not been entirely ruled out at this stage of proceedings.

Liverpool interested in 'sensational' Rashford deal

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa following the breakdown in his relationship with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim, who arrived at Old Trafford last October.

The 27-year-old scored four goals and registered six assists in 17 appearances for Unai Emery's side, but the club turned down the chance to sign him on a permanent basis for £40m.

Rashford's dream destination this summer remains Barcelona, but the Catalan outfit are only said to be interested in a loan deal due to the cost of the transfer.

The attacker's wages are also an issue, as he collects in the region of £300,000 a week at Old Trafford.

Rashford has scored 138 times in 426 appearances for the Red Devils, in addition to contributing 77 assists, but his time with the 20-time English champions is seemingly over.

The attacker is currently training at the club's Carrington complex, but he is not with the first-team squad and will not be involved in this weekend's pre-season friendly with Leeds United.

Man United to Liverpool transfers: How often do they occur?

Phil Chisnall is the last player to have been directly transferred between the two clubs, scoring 10 times in 47 appearances for Man United before making the move to Liverpool for £25,000 in 1964.

Tom Chorlton is the first player to have directly transferred between the two clubs, making the move from Liverpool to Man United in 1912.

Meanwhile, Jackie Sheldon, Tom Miller, Fred Hopkin, Tommy Reid, Ted Savage, Allenby Chilton and Thomas McNulty are the other seven players to have made the move between the two bitter rivals throughout history, so it has only occurred on nine occasions.

Tom Ince, Michael Owen and Peter Beardsley are among those to have represented both clubs, although they did not directly transfer between the English giants, who have a long-standing rivalry in the English game.
