Manchester United are reportedly set to make a move for Torino and Serbia goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, who is set to leave the club in the summer.

Manchester United have reportedly met with Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic's representatives over the possibility of a summer transfer.

Uncertainty around the future of Andre Onana means the Red Devils could be in the market for a new number one this summer, as Ruben Amorim looks to continue his overhaul of the playing squad.

Onana has been culpable of numerous high-profile errors this season, contributing to the club languishing down in 15th in the Premier League table with just three games remaining.

All signs point towards an exit for Onana, and also potentially for backup keeper Altay Bayindir, opening the door for someone new to take the place of the Cameroonian stopper.

Man United in contact with Torino number one

According to a joint-report by Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, it appears that man could be Milinkovic-Savic, who is the brother of midfielder Sergej, and has been a regular in the Torino side over the past four seasons.

The report states that Milinkovic-Savic has been added to the shortlist of potential arrivals, and initial contact between the two parties has taken place, with Man United now waiting to hear what his price tag will be.

Details confirm that Milinkovic-Savic is set to leave Turin this summer, after another fine season that could see the Granata finish in the top half of Serie A.

Valued at just €11.4m (£9.7m) by Transfermarkt, it is unlikely going to cost United anything near what they paid for Onana two years ago, and the Serb only has 12 months left on his contract, which could help in their efforts to strike a cut-price deal.

Milinkovic-Savic in focus

Now well-known across Europe for his performances in Serie A, Milinkovic-Savic was actually on Man United's books as a youngster, signing from Vojvodina in 2014.

Standing at six foot, eight inches tall, the physique of Milinkovic-Savic was always likely going to lead to him playing at the top level, but he was unable to obtain a work permit to play in England, so left for Lechia Gdansk a year later.

In 2017, Milinkovic-Savic moved to Torino, and after loans at Ascoli and SPAL, he became number one in 2021, and has now made over 150 appearances for the club.

Last year, Torino only narrowly missed out on Europe, having the fourth-best defensive record in Serie A, as Milinkovic-Savic played a central role, keeping 18 clean sheets in 36 appearances.

However, as was the case at youth level too, the Torino man regularly plays second fiddle to Predrag Rajkovic in the Serbia national setup, so a move to Old Trafford could be enticing for Milinkovic-Savic as he seeks to take over the reins as his nation's number one.
